Merciful, loving and Gracious Lord we come to you on this Christmas Eve,

We bow down, praise you and lift your name high as we prepare ourselves for the birth of the most Holy King of Kings

On this holy night in which God joins heaven and earth we offer our bodies, souls and spirits into your hand Lord

We open ourselves up to your Spirit and give you thanks.

We are grateful, Lord Jesus, that your story has become our story, and we celebrate your birth.

Open our hearts to your presence, that we may be transformed by the new birth of this holy night.

May we begin to see the world in the light of the understanding you give us.

We surrender our nations into your hand Lord, bestow your wisdom on all who govern, that in honouring the earth and its diverse races, cultures, and religions, we may celebrate the light of this holy night.

We surrender to you  Lord those in different kinds of suffering/ tough life situations, the lonely, the depressed, the homeless, the sick, the widowed, the prisoners and the hungry that they may experience the hope of this holy night.

We pray for parents, families, and newborn infants that you may strengthen families in the bonds of love and commitment that they may delight in the joy of this holy night.

We pray, to instill in us a profound sense of your abiding presence, and help us to take to heart the wonder of your love, that we may walk in your ways and delight in your will.

Help us, Lord God, to be the faithful, gracious, loving, giving and forgiving people you would have us be.

Fill us to overflowing with Your love for the lost, teach us to do acts of kindness to those who are in need at this time of year.

Let us give thanks for all the faithful departed who have been bearers of the Word made flesh. Give us grace to follow your holy ones in lives of faith and commitment, that we may we join with the hosts of heaven in singing the praises of this holy night. Amen
